Jingle bells, jingle bells. Bah humbug. Heh, yeah I ain't in that
Xmas spirit. I guess I'm just not one to celebrate holidays. It's not
much of a big deal for me. I just treat it like any other holiday. So
what if it's a time for giving? Why choose one day out of the entire
friggin' year to give when nobody else seem to give a shit when it isn't
Xmas? It would've been nice if people would be more giving on other
days. But hey, this isn't Utopia.
Not much has happened since the last entry. Been playing this game
called
Eternal Fighter Zero
and
Party's Breaker: The Queen
of Heart 2001. Both are fan-made fighting games featuring an
all-female cast of fighters from various dating-sim games. Both are
quite interesting in their respect. And both have their ups and downs.
Needless to say, they do keep me playing for a while.
As far as I know, there aren't a lot of good Flash animations. And
I would know so because I'm hard to impress when it comes to something
that looks quite good and actually takes major effort to make. Things
like
this
don't show up often. So it is quite refreshing that in the pile of
useless Flash animations that there'd be one to truly stand out. It is
too bad it'll be a long time before I get to see another decent
one.
After going through a total reinstallation of WinXP, I find myself
feeling a little odd about it all. But with the reinstall, I was able
to set some things straight for once. Certain programs no longer get
reinstalled or run again so both the system folders and the registry
are kept clean... so to speak. But the reformat was necessary because
of a new sound card being installed. Moving from the Live! Platinum to
the Audigy Platinum EX was refreshing for me but also a bit time
consuming. The Audigy box is external and the package ate up an I/O
panel after installation. Needless to say, the box is an interesting
device and I now have a firewire port. But now I have a total of two
remotes. While Audigy's remote control can be useful at times, it lacks
some of the things that're possible with the other remote. The
ATi Remote
Wonder is perhaps the best product to come from them in a long time.
But then again, ATi has been pumping out great products for a while now.
The Remote Wonder is different from other remotes out there. Not only
does the receiver connects to a USB port (for easy installation), the
remote operates on FM frequency. This means that you can use this
remote from other rooms, unlike other traditional remotes which operate
by using IR and needing a line-of-sight for the remote to work. I've
been using this remote for a few weeks now. And I must admit that this
is perhaps the coolest remote yet. I sure hope there will be others
like this in the future.
Well, I must go now and end this entry. Surely Saturday will be
interesting, I hope. Later, folks...
Nov 8, 2002 - 08:20P EST
Well, got some rather... strange... stuff for this update. Where
to start? Hmm...
Perhaps the best way to start is to mention that Halloween was,
surprisingly, quiet for once. I've no complaint about it since it was
quiet. But it sure did surprise me that absolutely no kids stopped by.
Then again, with all the events going around at that time, perhaps the
parents fear for their children. Who knows? At least this Halloween
was quiet, just eerily quiet.
November rolls in and finally the race to the senate and house is
finally over. And dammit, it's about time too. I was getting tired of
hearing those stupid political ads and mud slinging commercials anyway.
Damn politicians. At least some amusement came out of this. Florida
is once again the center of all political voting jokes as over 100,000
votes came up M.I.A. or AWOL. It all started with the damn punch cards
and now it's the electronic voting machines. Good job, folks. Perhaps
they should just go back to voting by hand and paper. But knowing
Florida, they'll probably screw that up as well!
I never had the joy of listening to episodes of Opie and Anthony
on the radio. But sometimes when I do catch those good episodes, they
are just great. So it comes as no surprise that in one of the episodes
that they would offer to give away a "100 Grand." Now, anyone who has
ever had candybars would most likely remember a candybar of the same
name. So if you were to say that you have "a hundred grand," most
people would assume you have 0,000. Given this simple concept,
O&A decided to
use
this idea against people's mind. Needless to say, it works like a
charm. Or maybe it worked too well... The result is simply one
pissed-off individual.
Speaking of being pissed-off, I'm sure some folks have been
frustrated by some of the idiocy that surrounds how computers work.
Admit it, every now and then you were doing something really important
when... *BAM!* It hits you like a ton of bricks. The computer
slams you
with
an error and you cannot believe that the computer would choose the
most inconvenient time to
destroy
your homework. So what do you do? Simple,
destroy
the PC. No, really. Destroy it.
I'm sure some of you folks have seen the
Apple Switch commercials.
And perhaps many of you agree that they all sound practically stupid
and idiotic. But that doesn't stop people from making
parodies about it.
I mean, really, are people that stupid to end up getting a Mac to do
their work? Or are they that dumb to actually waste hundreds of
dollars more to get one? Or are they that stupid to be paid by ... no
wait, if you're paid to say stupid shit like that, I guess it couldn't
hurt. But you get my drift...
Perhaps it's a known lesson from theives. But when you have a
case of
40,000
stolen
coat
hangers taken from many hotels around the world, it makes you
wonder why it was done. Well, some reasons sound fine. Still, 40,000
coat hangers?
With the recent news of the DooM 3 E3 alpha leak, people are
rummaging through the servers to look for it. I've had first-hand
experience on leaked softwares and it's not that bad as some may think.
Having tried the leaked early build of the
Unreal Tournament
2003 demo, I can vouch that it can give you a different experience
than what one is expecting. And for some, it is perhaps the same with
DooM 3. While I am not in the rush to download it, I will eventually
try it out just out of curiosity. And rumors still float about of the
person responsible for leaking the demo. It's not hard to narrow it
down either, since it was labeled that the leaked demo originated from
E3. And the demo at E3 was powered by ATi hardware. It happens. But
perhaps id Software should include a clause the next time they lend out
their stuff to demo at some expo or convention.
On the retro side of things, emulation is still improving on
various parts. However, there exist a piece of hardware that embeds 10
games into a single
Atari
2600 joystick. It looks great and is a good concept. And it's a
nice retor-decor and is portable. Makes a nice holiday gift for the
retro-gamers in some of us.
Saturday comes. I wonder what it'll bring... Later, folks.
Oct 25, 2002 - 02:54A EST
If there's one thing that I do not pay much attention to, it has to
be my birthday. So while to some that it's a day that they'd like to
celebrate, it's something I don't usually tend to think about often. I
just go on with my day like any other day. I feel the same way about
other holidays as well, that it's just one typical day, only different.
Despite that Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Year's, and any other
traditional holidays, are days that people celebrate, I just consider
them as any other day. Does it mean that I don't consider the day to be
special? Of course not. I just don't note them out like other people
do.
If people were to ask me what I do on my birthdays - or rather,
anyone who have been asked on what they do on their birthdays - they'd
all tell you something that is common with the most of us. For some,
it's school. For others, it's work. Fortunately only the lucky folks
get to have their birthday fall on a weekend day. Saturday will just be
like any other Saturday to me. No biggie.
Maybe that is why I forget people's birthdays so often. But that's
just me. Nothing usually happens on my birthday. But hey, that's how
the day goes for the most of us anyway. I can honestly say that I never
had a birthday party so it's nothing that I should brag about here. I
have learned to cope with the fact that not everyone has birthday
parties. I'm no exception to that fact. Whether or not I will ever see
one in my lifetime remains to be seen. No, that's not really a hint. I
just thought to note it here for future reference.
I'm sure one of the most known fact is the secrecy hiding around
the famous Area 51. And in a bold move, the military and Boeing made an
astonishing release of information for the public to see, the
Bird
of Prey. Not to be confused with the
Star Trek version of the Bird of
Prey from the Klingons and Romulans, this plane is intended to be a
stealth bomber in both night and day, where radars would not detect the
aircraft in all angles except 6. In any possibility, it's sure to be
able to make a one-time detection on the radar screen before being
brushed off as a minor blip on the screen. While the aircraft design
look fancy in some point of view, it definitely is an awkwardly designed
craft. And I am even surprised that it can fly. Now if they can just
design a variable-mode Valkryie...
I remember some of the old games when I was a kid called Simon
Says. The electronic game sure had some value for fun and playability.
Yet strangely the game is making a comeback in a 2-side version of the
game. On one side is the classic Simon Says form with 4 buttons.
However, on the other side is a two-player version of the game. It is
still a fun game to play once a while. And it makes a great way to test
one's memory. And I am sure that there are quite a few
variants
of the same concept. I wouldn't know if these variants are any good but
I think it'll tickle a few funnybones out there.
Yet on the computer side of games, there is a
different
kind of DooM, using a pick-and-choose style of playing. I remember
books of these types and they were interesting stuff. However, some of
these books that I remember didn't exactly fit well. But I guess that
is to be expected where stories can vary a lot. While on the topic of
old games, the game of QUAKE is getting a major facelift, thanks to the
power of open-source methodology. An individual has given the game a
big visual facelift and released the new compiled file as
Tenebrae. While it is
still the same game, some people placing some of those efforts in
exploiting the new features implemented in Tenebrae, such as
high-resolution
textures and
high-poly md3 models. Will the
game play any different? I highly doubt that. But needless to say, the
game looks many times better than before and very different in many
ways. The new textures adds a different feel to the game. But I hope
that future texture projects will include other parts of the game to
make it more complete. But if QUAKE is not your cup of tea, then maybe
playing
Adventure
on your computer via Flash is.
I'm sure some of you have seen some nice and horrible fashion
designs. But this is the first time I've seen one like
this.
While many of us have seen the KKK outfit and whatnot, it amuses me that
there'd be someone who'd come up with something like this. If you took
out the headgear, then maybe it'll look a lot nicer and not so
outrageously stupid. What should we call that fashion design? The Ku
Klux Koreans?
After hearing news of the arrest of the sniper(s), it's a nice
change from all the crazy panicking and paranoia that ran rampant in the
DC and Maryland area. And amongst the details is the weapon used in the
snipings, a Bushmaster rifle modeled after the military issued M-16
rifle, slightly crippled so it won't be capable of rapid fire. And in a
not too surprising way, visiting Bushmaster's website didn't reveal much
information because of the people flooding the site to see what model
used and what the other technical details are. Equipped with a scope
and a tripod, the killer was able to strike easily without being
spotted, thanks to the way the car was modified in perhaps all of the
shootings. Well, at least the guy knew how to hold a gun and a rifle,
unlike some
other
people with firearms.
I'm never one to like opera. Maybe I just don't have that kind of
taste for opera.
This
piece at least gave me some entertainment values, for the moment. Well,
that's all I got for now. Hopefully the next installment will have
something new and interesting as well. Later, folks...
Sep 22, 2002 - 10:21P EST
It's been a while. I've been putting the next entry for too long.
Has a lot happened? Or was it all boring? Hmm... Well, even after
companies have abandoned the Dreamcast platform and moved on to other
profitable platforms, there's still one company who chooses to release
a game just to extend the life of the system for a little while
longer.
Ikaruga
is a top-view vertical shooter made by the same company who developed
Radiant Silvergun and various other titles. And while the game only has
five levels to beat, it is the most painful five levels one has to
endure. I like that the game makes you earn certain things but it also
makes you wonder how anyone could've survived certain situations in the
game. It's just that crazy and seems almost that impossible to beat
and survive. But at least it's fun to play through.
So after getting that, I noticed that after anxiously waiting for
the word, the demo for
Unreal Tournament
2003 is at last out. And after playing around in the demo, the
graphics quality in the game is quite good, albeit painfully heavy.
On the latest 3D hardware, the game stresses the card out completely.
The multiplayer aspect is as good as usual, with an improved method of
looking for an online server to connect to. Me likey this game.
Some time ago I encounterd a link that let's people
poke
the bunny. Now there is a
Poke
The Penguin. So go ahead... poke the bunny... or penguin... ya know
you wanna.
Sometimes there are things that simply suggests otherwise. I'm
sure we've all heard our share of various Freudian slips and sexual
innuendoes. And yet nothing seem to stop a
product
from being suggested of a secondary function. Nowadays I ponder what
these people are thinking when they typed those comments out.
And so this concludes this entry. I hope to have something worthy
to post here soon. Later, folks...
Aug 23, 2002 - 11:18P EST
Hmm, what to put down here ... I guess some updates. Every once in
a while, I drop by everyone's favorite Moron Magnet Marketplace. We
know it as
eBay. It's a nice place, if you want
to find some stuff for dirt-cheap. Unfortunately, this isn't always
true for acquiring computer parts. Oh well. It doesn't hurt to test
your luck there.
I'm starting to get into the market for a new system. But at the
moment, I am unsure where to go and when to strike. The problem with
the current market is that, at this point in time,
AMD is about to release two new
processors in a couple of months. So when is it a good time to make
that buy? That I do not know at all. But going with an Athlon system
only kills me in several fronts -- RAM, motherboard, a new case, and a
new power supply. I would be virtually getting a new system with that.
But I suppose that is the price to pay when going for today's
technology. Ah well.
The corporate world around us seem to be screwing up big-time. It
makes me wonder just which company will be the next target. Ripping
people off,
that's
what NOT to do. Wait, that's what eBay sellers do anyway! Duh!
Hurray for consumer stupidity!
So I got me a copy of
Warcraft III and had played
the game for a while. It's a neat game. I haven't gotten very far but
I am going to see just how the Orcs play. One thing I know, though, is
that I hate playing the Undead. Blah...
I finally got the chance to watch some episodes of
Final Fantasy Unlimited. While the show isn't exactly
spectacular, it does feature some interesting bits here and there. But
I did not exactly like how the show ended off at the last episode.
Well, what can I say? It's Squaresoft. Yet despite of how the show is
story-wise, it seems that doing this series is only an excuse for
Square to do more CG. Maybe so ... who knows?
There were other series that I got to see. But I'll save that for
later. Hopefully I'll have some stories to tell here next time.
Aug 2, 2002 - 09:11P EST
Well, it's August. I haven't plastered anything down here for a
while so I might as well put something down. Having cleared a good
chunk of files off of my hard drive, I find it odd that I am letting so
many files sit and idle without being backed up. But lately I've been
getting problems with verifying the data written to my burned CD and it
gets tiresome to reburn when the files don't exactly match up. Well,
eventually I get the files burned and archived. And I left it at that
for a while.
There are a lot of crazy people in this world. So many nutcases
and so many morons. Not only that, we seem to get other problems
plaguing the nation as well. Blah. Nothing seems to be going right
at the moment. Pretty horrible ain't it?
The first of these morons seems to be the RIAA. But that isn't
until recently when the MPAA decided to
request
certain immunity from certain actions. However, the
RIAA got
layeth
the smacketh down by a denial-of-service attack. Surprising? Not
really. Hell, not many people like them anyway! The bastards... they
expect us
not to
do anything about it while they try to push everyone around?
And so life goes on until you get various disappearing people and
folks trapped inside of a goddamn cave. And while the trapped folks
are now out, luckily, Hollywood decides it'd make a great movie! That
is, until someone decides to make a sequel out of a bad movie. It has
not happened yet. But it will ... soon. That'll be all, for
now...
Jul 13, 2002 - 01:13A EST
Hmm, the 4th of July. Just another day, I suppose. My folks went
over to relative's place for family cookout. Well, I got to see part of
A Beautiful Mind. It was
not all that interesting to me. But my uncle did have
Behind Enemy Lines on
DVD so I got the chance to watch that. It was great stuff. Comparing
that to Spy Games, it looked a lot better to me.
So the AnimeExpo 2002 weekend came and went. People flocked to the
biggest anime event for days of anime-related events. And from what I
have heard, it was a great time there, even though it looked rather odd
viewing the photos of some folks. But oh well.
A couple of entries ago I made a note about how the game Halo has
yet to start. While I do not know what goes on behind the doors of
Bungie, today an
announcement
from Microsoft states of the development of Halo for the PC and Mac
platform. And according to the announcement, the "port" of the game is
slated to arrive in Summer of 2003. The game first demoed in 1999 for
the Mac platform. This would, more or less, make the game in
development for 4+ years. Sure it came out for Xbox. But put that
aside for a bit on this. The game has gone through countless months of
development, passing by an opportunity to showcase the power of
Environment-Mapped Bump-Mapping that promotes the Matrox G400. It also
passed through the opportunity to showcase the power of a GeForce2 when
the promotional demo was made. And then the big announcement that
Microsoft has bought Bungie and made Halo an Xbox game first. It was
disappointing to see a game that was so close to definitely be out on
PC first be shoved aside for a system that is essentially a PC.
So now, after nearly a year after its release on the Xbox, development
for the PC and Mac platform finally commence. I wonder just how the
hell this game will bring back the computer gamers since a lot probably
has left due to lost faith. Bungie or Microsoft better have something
up their sleeves when they made their announcement.
[sigh] Well, on to some other things. Modifications to hardwares
is something that can be either simple or amusing. In most cases, the
modifications are often simple. Some are not. And when it comes to
PC mods, most think of case modifications. Hardly anyone would think
about modifications to a mouse like
this. But then again, space
is quite restricted when modifying a mouse. But for those who like
modifications done to a PC case, perhaps you want to blend in two
things and make
the
best of both worlds. Cool? Yes. Recommended to try? Not unless
you are experience in making customizations yourself.
When you run from the law, the law will eventually catch you. And
it is often a lesson in life to
not get caught when
you are doing something wrong. However, in the event that you do find
yourself behind bars, remember that there are
tools
to help you escape. Just be aware of what you are
wearing
when you are roaming around as a fugitive. Or better yet, give yourself
a
better
name when you need a different identity.
I'm sure some of you have seen stupid commercials by
Apple about their Switch campaign.
So it comes as no surprise that someone will
have
a say on the matter. I've seen better commercials than that. Heck,
even Microsoft's commercials are better, in presentation and getting the
point across. And yes, some are even funny. Poor Apple... stuck with
stupid marketing staffs. They sure had some great
achievements.
That's pretty much it for me. I leave with a few leftovers that I
could not incorporate into this entry. Later, folks...
Jul 1, 2002 - 12:02A EST
Egads. This is too much. I've seen a lot of stupid patent dispute
over one's intellectual property and whatever bullshit one can come up
with. But this really takes the case.
I mean, there is a tolerance when it comes to something about
nothing. Yes, something about nothing. It sounds like Seinfeld but
dammit maybe it is. It started the past week when a new patch for the
PC port of Grand Theft Auto 3 was released. And with my tendacy to try
anything that gets released, be it beta or alpha softwares (look at
Mozilla), I figure I'll try it out
and see what's new and fixed. The accompanying notes as to what changes
were made to the executable file indicates practically nothing. Really,
there isn't anything of any good use for most people. No engine fixes,
which many people have been experiencing. No changes to make tweaking
the game more accessible. Nothing. The only thing that appear to be of
any use is the ability to play all the audio content from HD if the
files were copied from the 2nd CD. But even that came as too little,
too late with the 3rd-party hacks and patches. Needless to say, the
patch's only improvement was, in my own wording, enhanced nothing and
improved nothing. It's just there! I guess all those money rolling in
went into the developers' head. Yeah, who needs to listen to other
people when you got money pouring in like nothing? There goes Rockstar
as a respectable company.
So then now I see a copyright dispute over "the sound of silence."
No, not the song sung by Simon and Garfunkel. But rather, the actual
sound of silence. Nothing. Nil. Null. I mean, why a dispute over
something that nobody hears? It's bad enough that we got the stupid
RIAA making dumb numbers about how audio MPEG Layer 3 are hurting sales.
But now we got dispute over the actual sound of silence. Che... And
scientists everywhere are trying to find intelligent life outside of our
solar system? I tell ya. If those aliens are monitoring us right now,
they're probably cracking up on the floor laughing their asses off. Or
worse yet, God is up there probably disgusted at the whole thing. But
wait, I can't say that. It'll probably be ruled as
unconstitutional. Damn freaks...
If there are any more stupid shit coming out, then I'll probably
slap it on here. I just wanna make the entry now because it really
seems like everything is goin' to hell right now. Later, folks...
Jun 15, 2002 - 07:34A EST
It's starting to become a bad trait to skip out on regular updates
and such. But there are a few things to note.
Okay, damn it all for the New Jersey Nets to have won the Eastern
Conference Finals against the Boston Celtics. Damn them! The Celtics
were not up to their game when it's needed most. And I blame A. Walker
for missing that crucial shot. I've seen people take their goddamn
sweet time and he didn't even bother to stop and focus for a bit. Fuck
fuck fuck.
So it's the Lakers against the Nets for the Finals, as if it could
not get any worse. By Wednesday, it was already Doomsday for the Nets.
The game started well but eventually it was too much for the Nets as the
Lakers swept through New Jersey to win a 3rd straight championship. And
while Phil Jackson ties for most Championships as a coach, he is only
second to Boston's great Red Auerbach. And of course, being the first
is always better.
One of the amazing things are the high-speed trains seen around the
world. In Japan, a new record is set for the
fastest
train in the world, at 552kph. Too bad it costs 8 trillion yen just
to build this. Ouch.
While on the area of technology, there's an
article
detailing on the inner workings of ILM. There you can find out how they
use Linux now to do their special effects and how using Linux now
improves the speed in productivity. But if that wasn't enough, there
are even
details
on the hardware aspects of the workstations as well as the numerous
computers interlinked together as a renderfarm. Wow...
As some of you know, each state has its own unique stupid laws that
nobody knows of. But they do exists. And you can view some of the
stupid laws that has strangely got past the government's logic
here. So while it is amusing to
read about Massachusetts laws, it may make you even wonder about some of
the pure brain power presented at
Blockbuster. So what is so
special about them? I think they're the only one who claim to
know
more about DVDs than the rest of us. As to who came up with this
idea, or who even thought of it, the world may never know. But I should
go to one and do some investigating of my own. Hmm...
I'm really tired of seeing a
particular
commercial on all the time. It seems to be shown so many times when
a certain show is on. Yet while people say it is fun to play, there is
only so much a person can take when seeing the commercials on time and
time again, countless times, numerous times, inconceivable times. It
has gotten to the point where I'd rather not play the game at all than
to try it out. Yet, here it is, in my hands,
CloneCD copies
of the game, 2 CDs large, and protected by SafeDisc2. It's installed
and running. But running the game is somewhat trivial. Even on a
GeForce4 Ti4600, some part of the
game runs slow and not very smooth. It also has a few texture problems
that needs to be worked out. Whether or not the developers will fix it
is beyond me. Needless to say, the people are right - the game is fun
at times but also frustrating in others too. Either way, it's amusing
to rack up money and to shoot down a few innocent bystanders.
There's a leaked demo floating around on the 'net for Unreal
Tournament 2003. Supposedly this leaked demo is the demo used in some
of the big events, such as E3 for example. The demo somehow got its way
to the hands of the warez group and people began to eat it up to give
the game a shot in how it looks like. While it looks good,
unfortunately the speed wasn't up to par. The performance is lacking
due to the early state of the demo. However, it's an interesting look
at what is to come. Indeed, UT2003 looks quite nice as a start. I can
hardly wait for the official release.
Yet another
Counter-Strike release, it
is now at v1.5. And with it, an update to Half-Life. There are just
too many things to go through now. And I still have
Serious Sam 2nd Encounter to go
through in the hardest difficulty setting. Oh well. One thing at a
time is the best method. Later, folks...
May 25, 2002 - 12:52P EST
Sometimes one's too preoccupied to make an entry. So I end up
saying
screw
the entry and deferring it until the next day, which is today. I do
have a few other things to note here though. But the entry will be
shorter in result.
With the Celtics' win over the Nets on Tuesday, Celtics are to host
the New Jersey Nets in the Fleet Center today for game 3, which I will
be watching closely to see if we can keep our home record unbroken for
the post-season. This game and the next (on Monday) are key games as it
will determine if we can get past the Nets. Winning game 2 to tie the
series at 1 game a piece is good, as an unbroken home record spells that
we can win despite a loss on the road. It'll be interesting to see.
And of course, I'll be rooting for the home team. The pride is back,
baby!
The time is coming closer. However, it's starting to make me
wonder. First, DOOM III screenshots and videos shown at E3 are
definitely impressive. The details in the environment and the models
are fantastic and it makes me want to play the game. While I have never
gone through DOOM and DOOM II and beat it first-hand, I hope I can
change that with the 3rd game. While on the topic of games, I also
found out that the creators of Halo,
Bungie, are up to their necks in
projects. From what I have read, the PC and Mac ports of Halo are still
planned but with one particular problem: development hasn't even
started yet. Eh? Still? And it's almost a year since! From
that information alone, I think I'll give up on the game and look to
both DOOM III and Unreal Tournament 2003. At least with those two
titles, it'll have me occupied for the while. Bleh, so much for Halo.
I was really looking forward to it. Feh...
Anyways, the weekend is long. And perhaps I can get the 2nd
computer in better shape. Let's see. Later, folks.
May 18, 2002 - 05:39A EST
(This entry should've been posted yesterday however I was too tired
to make the backup and post in one shot. So it got postponed 'till now.
Damn.)
The weekend turned out to be slow. However, it came up short
when I had to hurry back with a bouquet of flowers for me mum. And
then Sunday rolled around. I had thought about going over to the
new bridge built just near North Station but that plan went out the
window when the weather forecast says rain is on the way. So I
decided against it, to not risk damaging my camera.
So then there's the Celtics/Pistons game... it seems that I am not
going to be expecting them to win but after seeing the scores nearing
the half, it did not seem like that the Celtics are going to lose at
all. Instead, they went and defeated the Pistons 4 games to 1. It's
amazing too, to see that the Celtics are going to the Eastern finals.
It's been a long time too.
Who says crime doesn't pay? It does pay, just not in monetary
value according to
this
story. I find it amusing that, out of all people, a burglar just
happened to make the wrong choice. The pain... the pain!
And then it hit midnight, Thursday, May 16th of 2002... I'll be
quick about this. Numerous sites got
SlashDot'ed, including one for
The Matrix
sequel. If anyone
tries to tell me that SWe2 is
really good, I am
going to simply ignore it until I view it for myself.
While on the topic of viewing flicks, I got the chance to evaluate
the title called
Spriggan.
I was told that the animation and action was good in it. Though I do
not remember if that is the correct wording of that opinion, I figure
that while it is within my grasp to view it for the purpose of seeing
if what's said is true. And so I sat down and watched it. So what do
I think of it? The animation quality is nice and that is perhaps the
only thing it has going for it. Content and story? Well, it didn't
seem all that interesting to me. Does it suck? Maybe so. Would it
been worth the money spent on the actual DVD? Nope. The end.
On the other hand, I also watched Miyazaki's latest film,
Spirited
Away. While the environment presented in the film threw me off at
first, you get accustomed to the numerous characters presented. And
the story is there, revealing itself as the movie progress. I have
mentioned to another person that this movie is not one to start
anywhere except from the very beginning. So even if you missed the
first 2 minutes, you have to start over from the beginning. Yet
despite of this issue, it's a nice movie to watch.
After kicking the 2nd computer over and installing
RedHat Linux 7.3, I fired up the
system and tried out
KDE 3.0. It looks neat but it fired
up rather sluggishly. I'm unsure as to why but I'm quickly assuming
that there's too much shit that RedHat included with the KDE install.
Well, that's not a big deal, as the computer's going to go for a few
more rounds of torture. For now, I'll be seeing if I can get this
beta release of
GNOME2 running. If not, then I
might as well give up on it.
Square seems to be having some trouble with keeping the servers up
w/o much interruptions. Details on an individual's Day 1 can be found
here
if you want to find out. Along the area of services, in the world of
broadband through cable, DSL, and dial-up, signing up for dial-up ISPs
such as Earthlink or AOL is easy. But according to
this
article, cancelling the account isn't. So easy to be pissed off,
no wonder it's #1!
People are stupid. We all know that for a fact. It never ceases
to amaze us just how stupid some people are. What even amazes us is
how completely fucking stupid many Americans are. I mean, sure we got
folks who hate Americans. So what? But damn some are just completely
clueless. And it's true too. And who better to say it without any
regrets or consideration than Anne Robinson. You'd know her as the
host and star of the TV game show "Weakest Link." Put simply,
Americans
are dumb.
So here it is, one big and long entry. Here's to hoping for
something to type in the next time I make an entry. Later,
folks.
